(Chicago) Illinois’ oldest South Asian-American political action committee endorsed Jonathan Jackson, Candidate for Congress in the 1st Congressional District of Illinois. The Indo-American Democratic Organization (IADO) included Jackson on its recently released slate of endorsements for 2022 based upon an assessment by the organization’s board of directors of Jackson’s positions on immigration reform, creating small business opportunities, fighting crime, increasing access to healthcare, and other issues.
Founded in 1980, IADO is a leading political advocacy organization for Illinois’ South Asian American community. The group advocates on behalf of the South Asian American community on issues such as Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid, healthcare access, public education, immigration reform and efforts to combat hate crimes. IADO also registers and mobilizes South Asian Americans to vote.
“We recruit and support candidates who best represent the welfare of our community to run for public office,” said Shajan Kuriakose, IADO President.
“I am honored to accept the IADO endorsement,” Jackson said. “I have a lot of respect for the organization’s commitment to justice and equity and its dedication to the empowerment of the diverse, South Asian American community of Illinois.”
